Alma P. Johnson Obituary Born: June 23, 1920 Left for Heaven: January 25, 2012 We have been truly blessed by the remarkable life of Alma Johnson. Her parents came to Spokane in 1909. The youngest of five siblings, Alma attended Bemiss grade school and John Rogers High School. Alma met Richard Johnson at Salem Lutheran Church. High school sweethearts, they graduated from Rogers in 1938, and later were both named to The Walk of Fame. After graduation, they apprenticed as photographers, were married in 1941, and then owned Christian Studio for twenty-five years. Alma and Dick treasured their family. Their legacy includes Children: Lynda, Rick, Kari, and Kris; Grandchildren: Eric, Djenom, Sarn, Michael, Kari, Mark, Brad, Ben, Karissa, Brandon, Adam, Krystianna, Brian, Karianna, Ricky, Kelsi, Nikolas, and Kyli; Great grandchildren, John Paul, Snoquia, Charles, Grace, Alexis, Sophie, James, Elsa, Ada, Madison, Elise, Claire, Cooper, Parker, with Zoe and one more on the way. Their Newman Lake haven taught the family love of nature, including squirrels, chipmunks, and the blue heron. Love for God's creation is the family focus, with Grandma's chocolate chip cookies in hand. Alma and Dick were members of VASA order of America, where Alma offered Swedish lessons for many years. She volunteered with Quota Club International, sang in the Salem choir, served endless Smorgas-bords, organized the annual Lucia pageant, and hosted Friendship Club. Summer Sundays at the lake included outdoor worship. A Memorial Service for Alma will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Salem Lutheran Church, 1428 W. Broadway, Spokane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salem.
