Arnola Marie (Setser) Berend Obituary (Age 93) On November 27, 1916, Cora and Robert E. Lee Setser welcomed a baby daughter they named Arnola Marie Setser. Arnola returned to her Savior on August 17, 2010 in Spokane, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents (Robert and Cora Setser); sister and brother-in-law (Gertrude and Don Spring); sister and brother-in-law (Juanita and Howard Hines); sister and brother-in-law (Goldie and Carl Erickson); and brother, Frank Setser. Arnola graduated from Rogers High School where she was salutatorian. She was married to Joseph Berend for twenty years and had a daughter. During her working career, she was a supervisor for the Spokesman-Review?s Out-Of-Town Classified Advertisement Department. She enjoyed her work and fellow employees for twenty years at the paper. Her interests included reading, playing the piano, and raising pets, but her true devotion and dedication was rearing her only child, Cora. Arnola was always a loving mother to Cora Stone, mother-in-law to Wesley Stone (Cora?s husband) and grandmother to Kelly (Cora and Wesley?s daughter). Her greatest joy was being part of a family. Her sweet spirit, her love of family and her belief in the Lord were ever present. She will be missed by all those who loved and cared for her. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Ward Chow, nurse Susan Pomeroy, and the caregivers at St. Joe?s Care Center. By request of the family, a private graveside service was held. Contributions may be made in memory of Arnola to the Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N. Havana St., Spokane, WA 99217 and Washington Talking Book and Braille Library, 2021 9th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121.
