Audra J. Goodell Obituary
(Age 89)
We are saddened to acknowledge the passing of Audra Janice (Snedden) Goodell, February 27, 2011. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ron H. Goodell, of 67 years. She is also survived by son Steven (Timme) and their children Ryan (Christy), and Amber Dunham (Andy); daughter Donna Nichols (James) and their children Kyle and Marissa; and son Ronald D. (Carm) and children Jamie, Erin Clouse (Mark), Autumn, Carley Carlson (Scott), Scott Hall (Nichelle), and Steven Hall (Brandi). Audra was also a great-grandmother to nine wonderful great-grandchildren. Audra was born to Archie and Mary Snedden on September 3, 1921, in Spokane where she lived all of her life. She loved her brothers, Dale and Angus Snedden, and her sister Mary Lee. Audra graduated from North Central High School and was a Lilac Princess in Spokane. She attended the University of Washington for two years. Audra and Ron married on September 6, 1943 and enjoyed a wonderful life together. They owned and operated the Shangri-La Motel in Spokane until they sold their business in 1972. Retirement brought many happy years to Audra and Ron as they wintered in Mazatlan, Mexico for 28 years, summered at Loon Lake, and spent 27 years cruising the San Juans, the lower Puget Sound, and Alaska on their 34' Taiwan Trawler, The Shangri-La. They hosted many family members and friends on these excursions. They also took multiple Caribbean and Alaska cruises and traveled to British Columbia and Alaska overland in their RV. Audra took great joy volunteering at the Shriners Hospital for many years. She especially loved dancing with Ron, golfing in her earlier years, cards and Bingo with her friends, and caring for her grandchildren. Audra and Ron have lived together at the Riverview Care Center for the past two years. More than anything, Audra loved her devoted husband and he adored her. They were true soul mates, an example to us all. We will miss her so much . . . her great wit, her amazing laugh, her love of life, and her love for all of us. The family wants to give special thanks to Terry and Gayle Snedden, Jean Bendix, Barbara Willey and James Boxley for their lifelong friendships and outstanding care. Donations in Audra's memory can be made to Riverview Care Center in lieu of flowers.
