Barbara Jean (Dyslin) Drewel Obituary (Age 84) Barbara Drewel, 84, of Spokane passed away Friday, August 26, 2016. Barbara was born on January 28, 1932 in Hammond, IN to Edward and Dorothy Dyslin. Barbara grew up in Calumet City, IL graduating from Bishop Knoll High School. She worked as a switchboard operator for Blaw-Knox foundry where she met and fell in love with her husband Donald E. Drewel. They were married at St. Victor Church, Calumet City, IL on November 26, 1953. Barbara?s greatest joy was being a wife and mother to their six children, always saying she had the best job in the world. Cooking and baking were lifelong passions of Barb?s, always searching for new recipes to be enjoyed by her family and many friends. Known for her humor and style she loved to entertain and share her latest culinary treats. Barb belonged to numerous church and social clubs and was an active member of the PTA, Girl Scout Troop Leader and Boy Scout Den Mother when her children were young. The family lived in Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Michigan. After moving to Freeport, MI she and Don were very active members of the Republican Party. Barbara and Donald retired to Spokane in 2005 and celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2013. Barbara is survived by sons, Donald, David and Thomas Drewel; daughters Jane and Susan Drewel; daughters-in-law Barbara, Theresa and Laura Drewel. She is also survived by her 9 ?World?s Best? grandchildren, Jeremiah and Christopher Drewel; Talon Drewel; Jillian, Matthew, Nicholas and Alexander Schweitzer; Justine and Keegan Drewel. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Drewel; her son Brian Drewel and her brother Edward Dyslin. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home.
