Betty Ann Nichols Obituary Betty Ann Nichols, 82, passed Sunday, August 30, 2009 in peace. Betty had suffered heart problems for years and quietly went to sleep. Betty was born in Spokane, WA September 3, 1926 to Harry and Alamina Plunkitt. Betty was the last survivor in a family of nine siblings. She attended Lowell and Irving elementary schools. She received her degree with Lewis & Clark's 100th graduating class in 1944. Betty worked and attended many activities in Spokane, including Grange dances, where she met Archie J. Nichols. They fell in love and married September 15, 1946. Betty was preceded in death by Archie in 1988, and is survived by her sons James (Donna) and Richard (Colleen) Malone, grandsons Keith, Jared, Kyle, and granddaughters Shayna and Marissa Nichols. Betty was the matriarch of a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was an active community volunteer with the Cannon Hill Neighborhood Association, Polly Judd Park, C.O.P.S. SW, PTA, and was the founder and leader of the local children's group, Eager Beavers. Betty lived in the same neighborhood her entire life and has many lifelong friendships. Betty spent many happy days with her family at their lake cabin at Twin Lakes, ID, traveling with Archie in their motorhome, camping, dancing, family get togethers, and spending countless hours in her garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to charity of choice. A Memorial Service will be 10 am Friday, September 4, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home.
