Betty Jane (Muhs) Barnes Obituary (Age 97) Our Dear Mother-Sister-Nanny passed away peacefully On February 22nd, at home with family by her side. Betty was born in Spokane on August 20, 1919 to William and Hazel Muhs of Deer Park. Betty grew up on Wildrose Prairie on the Muhs family homestead. Betty attended Deer Park Schools, and this is where she met her future husband Robert B. Barnes. Betty and Bob were married on June 21st, 1941, and were married for 58 years at the time of Bobs passing. After graduation Betty attended Beauty School and set out work as a beautician. In about 1957 they moved their family to Ritzville, it was in Ritzville that Betty decided to change career paths and went to work for the Washington Association of Wheat Growers, where she worked until retirement. Trinity Methodist Church was their place of worship. They enjoyed their many travels including Cancun, Japan, Hong Kong, Spain, Portugal, Panama, Alaska (the Great Motor Coach trip) and many others. Betty greatly enjoyed life and all its pleasures, including cooking, knitting, fashion, music and of course anything Chocolate! A few years after Bobs passing Betty moved to Spokane to live with her daughter Shari and son in law Jim where she loved to spend time with family and friends while petting Mazy and watching the wildlife from her living room. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert B. Barnes in 1999. Betty is survived by her sister Mary (LaVern) Losh; daughters Shari (Jim) Carlson and Brenda Frye; grandchildren John (Barbara) Frye, Heidi (Shannon) Best and Jared (Chanell) Frye; 13 great and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Heritage Thursday and Friday 10-5 and Funeral Service 1PM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Chapel. The family suggests a gift in her name in lieu of flowers to the Union Gospel Mission.
