August 24, 1934 - June 12, 2017

Betty Jean Nickerson Obituary (Age 82) Betty Jean Nickerson was born in Leavenworth, WA August 24, 1934. Her family moved throughout central Washington before settling in the Ellensburg area where she graduated from Kittitas High School in 1952. She moved to Quincy and while living there, Betty fell in love with one the bad boys of the town, Dick Nickerson. On October 18,1959, they were married. Betty worked in the town bank while Dick owned and operated a service station. In March of 1964 Betty left the bank to give birth to their son, Bruce. In 1966, they moved to the Spokane Valley and she lived there until June 12, 2017 when she went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty loved Gonzaga basketball and watching her family drag race. Many days and nights she spent at Spokane County Raceways cheering her heart out for her family to turn on that win light. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents, Leonard and Hilda Kirstein; her brother, Vern Kirstein; and sister, Helen Gere. She is survived by her son, Bruce (Merri) Nickerson; brother, Dick (Pat) Kirstein; grandchildren, Cody (Samantha), Dylan, Jacob and Shayna; and great grandchild, Jeremiah; nephews, Dan Kirstein, Andy (Heidi) Kirstein; and numerous other nephews and nieces. Betty will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Her strong faith in God gives comfort knowing we will all be reunited one day. Your win light is on Momma, youre going home the champion. Services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on June 23rd at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Childhood Cancer Organization of the Inland Northwest (ACCOIN) P.O. Box 8031, Spokane, Washington, WA 99203.
