Betty Jo Spencer Obituary (Age 56) Betty was born on May 15, 1957 in The Dalles, OR, to James Lloyd and Betty Wheatley. She passed away on April 24, 2014, in Elk, WA. Betty graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1975. On August 28, 1982 she married William Spencer in Spokane, WA. She resided in Elk for the past 30 years, where she spent many years working for the Elk Sentinel. She graduated from SCC with a Health and Information Technology degree and became a patient counselor at ENT until she retired in 2011. Betty enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family. Betty belonged to book clubs, the Elk Homemakers and she volunteered with various organizations throughout the years. She was also a proud organ donor and has now helped many people. She is survived by her loving husband, William; her children: Selina, Samantha, Shane (Taryn) and Kate (Travis); her 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all from the Elk/Spokane area. She is also survived by her two sisters: Debbie and Jamie from Montana; her brother, Wayde from Washington; along with many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 at the Open Bible Church in Elk with a provided potluck to follow. In lieu of fresh flowers, potted flowers or plants would be appreciated.
