March 22, 1928 - September 27, 2010

Betty Lou (Abramson) Kenyon Obituary (Age 82) September 27, 2010 Mom passed away. Dad came down and took Mom to his favorite fishing hole. I've been a little irritated with Dad that he didn't come sooner, because Mom's life had not been very good the past few years, I've looked into the sky and told him so. Mom was born March 22, 1928 in Shattuck, OK to Ira and Edna Abramson during the dust bowl years. In the early 1930's they moved north of Colville, WA where they found it hard to farm in the mountains at Clugston Creek, so they moved in to town (Colville, WA). After Mom and Dad met, Dad asked Mom to marry her and she said no because she did not hear what he said. So for two weeks Dad did not come around. Then they met again at a dance where Dad tried to line her up with a good friend, but Mom did not want to dance with his friend. Mom and Dad ended up dancing all night together, which they are now able to do once again. Mom and Dad (Alton O. Kenyon) were married 56 years; they were very close to each other and lost without one another. They worked hard giving us morals, values, guide lines, sending us to church to learn the word of God and giving us a firm hand on the backside when we needed it. We are all going to miss Mom and Dad, as well as the fun times, working together, camping, fishing, hunting, getting together, the camaraderie and the pumpkin pies. Betty is survived by Lonnie and Marilyn Kenyon (Olympia, WA), Robert A. and Donna Kenyon (Spokane, WA), Ken and Kitty (Kenyon) Hitt (Spokane, WA), Ernie and Lucy (Kenyon) Patty (Ellensburg, WA), Ken and Mary (Kenyon) Smet (Hawaii), Phillip Kenyon (Seattle, WA), Scotty and Trish Kenyon(Spokane, WA), 13 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 9:00AM at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA 99224. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the missionary work at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Rd., Spokane, WA 99217.
