Betty Olson

September 22, 1951 - January 24, 2010

Betty Olson Obituary (Age 58) Passed away on January 27, 2010. She is survived by her parents David and Evelyn Baird; her spouse for 22 years Faith Olson; her sister Susan Baird, all of Spokane; her sister Mary Allen and husband Pat, Carol Stream, IL; and two cats Yeti and Simon. She graduated in 1969 from Joel E. Ferris High School then went to paralegal training at Spokane Community College. Her parents took the family camping to Priest Lake every summer while she was growing up so this is how her love of camping came about. She loved Nascar racing, going to Long Beach, WA to watch the kite festival and walk on the beach, and celebrating holidays with her family. She loved to read, needlepoint, sew and have her "Ladies Day" with her sister Susan going antiquing. Betty and Susan were very close and their love for each other will out last time. Betty worked over 25 years for Lukins and Annis, Attorney. Jim, Bonnie and all her coworkers and clients loved her for her dedication and friendship. Every person Betty's life touched loved her; she was sincere and selfless. Thank you for loving Betty Russ and Joan Olson, Steve and CC Olson, Greg and Shelly Olson and Bob Olson. There are so many people - I wish I could name you all. Thank you! A special thank you to Yoshi Dunnam, Betty's caregiver in her final days. Her wisdom, compassion and gentle spirit gave Betty peace and calm. Yoshi, thank you is NOT enough. Thank you to her two cats Yeti and Simon. They knew her passing was near and to watch them bond with her was extraordinary. Betty's commitment to her marriage and her support of her husband Chris with his transgender transition to Betty's spouse Faith spoke so hugely of the strength that was Betty's spirit. Her whole life was dedicated to loving and caring for people - we all are blessed that were touched by her life. Betty fought bravely for 2 1/2 years against her cancer. It is such an ugly thing to have taken such a beautiful person. We are only saying good bye Betty to your physical body. We will all have your spirit living inside us forever. In lieu of flowers please donate to Lance Armstrong's Cancer Research website LiveStrong.com. The funeral will be family only but please come and help us celebrate her life at Contempo of Spokane Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 1205 E. Lyons. Open house is Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 1 to 5 p.m.
