Betty R. Miner Obituary
Betty Miner, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, January 2, 2009 in Spokane, Washington after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of Heritage Congregational Church and loved her Lord Jesus Christ.
Betty was born January 27, 1927 in Nashua, Montana to Adeline and Samuel Rawe. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1944. She then moved to Spokane, where she attended and graduated from Kinman Business University. After graduating, Betty's first job was working for Standard Oil Company as a Bookkeeping Machine Operator.
While in college, she met and fell in love with M. Ray Miner. On July 3, 1947, they were married, a marriage that would last more than 61 years. When Betty and Ray started their family, she became a stay-at-home mom until her children, Patricia and Curt, entered high school. She volunteered at Deaconess Medical Center for several years in the Emergency Room while raising her family. Betty then returned to work in Patient Accounts at Deaconess, where she worked for 17 years. She retired in February 1991 and again volunteered, this time in the Short Stay Unit at the hospital. Betty was also involved in PEO, Sewing Club, and was a Teal Lady at the Southside Senior Center.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her loving husband Ray. Betty cherished the time spent with Ray attending the Spokane Symphony Super Pops and the Coeur d'Alene Summer Theater. Betty also enjoyed family and friends, trips to the Oregon Coast, Montana, Canada and Alaska, sewing and craft projects, journaling, gardening, sharing cooking ideas with her son-in-law, and sharing her love of music and the piano with her daughter, son and granddaughter.
Betty is survived by her husband M. Ray Miner; daughter Patricia Tackes, husband Jeff and granddaughter Megan, son Curt Miner and wife Jennifer; and sisters, Julene Hartley, Eleanor Bowles and Joyce Hill.
Betty - Mom - Grandma - We love you so much and know that we will see you again in Heaven one day. You are truly missed.
