Beverly LaVerne Jaffe Obituary
(Age 94) Beverly was born in Spokane, WA on February 22, 1921 to Lue and Rose Soss and passed away on February 8, 2016. She attended Irving Grade School and Lewis and Clark High School. In high school she was a very good student and was on the A tennis team. At age 18 she attended the University of Washington for one year. It was there that she met her husband Robert Jaffe. They were married in 1941 and lived in Seattle for three more years. In 1945 they moved to Spokane where they both owned and operated Lue?s Cameras until they retired in 1977. For over 60 years Beverly was an active member to the Spokane Jewish community and a member of Kenneseth Israil Synagogue, Temple Beth Shalom, Bnai Brith and Hadassah. Beverly was an avid knitter, seamstress and gardener. At any one time she would use two knitting machines and two sewing machines, making anything from sweaters, afghans to dresses and hot pads. In the late 50?s she began her kitchen gadgetry obsession, using a pasta machine, bread maker, ice cream maker and yogurt maker. She was known to bake bread and send it to family and friends across the US. In the mid 80?s she developed an interest in personal computers, creating hundreds of holiday and greeting cards. She was one of the first people to participate in live audio conversations via the internet (VOIP). She resided in the south hill for 59 years until she moved to the Waterford Facility for the last seven years of her life. Beverly had two brothers, now deceased, Thomas and Siedell Soss. She is survived by two children Pamela Lavinthal and Thomas Jaffe as well as two grandchildren Brett and Lori Lavinthal; two great-grandchildren Sofie Lavinthal and Elliot Archer. Funeral services have been held. Donations may be made to the Lue Soss Kiddush Fund, in care of Temple Beth Shalom, 1322 E. 30th. Ave. Spokane 99203.
