Beverly Nordlund Sanderson Obituary
Beverly passed away peacefully in Spokane, WA, due to complications related to ALS. She was born in Spokane to Gunnar and Ruby (Botman) Nordlund. She grew up with her brother Jim enjoying trips to Trimble?s Resort on the Little Pend Oreille lakes, which became a family tradition. After graduating from North Central High School in 1951, she attended the WSU extension program, and then studied at the Spokane Conservatory of Music taught by Rosaleen Moldenhauer. Beverly was a talented pianist and mastered many classical and popular works. She worked for Pacific Northwest Bell, Global Travel, and for Spokane County as a deputy auditor. She met her husband, Henry Sanderson, in 1953. They married in 1956 and immediately started a family. Together they raised five children and were later rewarded with nine grandchildren. Over the years she volunteered her leadership skills and time to the Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, school sports, musical education, and St. Mark?s Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and was very involved with church programs. She coordinated fundraisers and other volunteer activities. A highlight for Beverly was twice accompanying the Youth group on bicycling trips to the San Juan Islands. Beverly will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother, devoted beyond all measure to her family and all of their activities. She was an avid gardener; a musician; an excellent cook who was most happy planning a family or holiday dinner, and hosting guests. She approached all things with creativity and artistic vision. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Gunnar & Ruby, brother James Nordlund, and son James R. Sanderson II. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Henry Sanderson II; her children Linda (Jay) Bromme, Spokane; Eric (Karrie) Sanderson, Seattle; Henry (Wendy) Sanderson III, Netherlands; Molly (Brandon) Chapman, Seattle; and nine grandchildren, who will all miss her very much. Memorial Services will be held at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church, on Saturday, June 21 at 2:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark?s Lutheran, or the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter.
