Bobbie J. Anderson

Bobbie J. Anderson Obituary (Age 76) Known as "Andy" by friends Bobbie was born May 20, 1934 in Canton, Mississippi to the late George and Nellie Anderson. He peacefully left this world on December 27, 2010 in Spokane. Bobbie accepted Christ into his heart and was baptized at Pine Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He later became a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church in 1972, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and many other areas until his health declined. He attended Zion Chapel grade school, and graduated Camel Street High School in 1954. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country for twenty three years before retiring in 1977. Bobbie?s love for knowledge lead him to pursue a Bachelor?s degree in Sociology from Spokane Community College in 1981 at the age of 48. He provided counseling to those struggling with alcoholism and had a special concern for the elderly. He served his community by volunteering at The Cop Shop. Bobbie was very industrious. He continued to work at Washington Water Power and retired for a second time in 1997. Bobbie married his high school sweetheart Barbara Jean Davis on January 2, 1956. To this union was born five children, Diane, Joann, Michael, Tony and Brenda. Bobbie always had a friendly smile and easy going manner. His favorite saying was ?it?s no sweat kid.? Some of Bobbie?s favorite times where spent on his hobbies of gardening, fishing, traveling, watching westerns and war movies. His most cherished moments were spent telling stories to his children and grandchildren. His proudest moment was when his son Lt. Col Michael Anderson launched into space aboard the Shuttle Endeavor in 1998. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara Anderson, his three daughters Diane Anderson, Joann Sykes, Brenda Daniely (Jimmy) and daughter in-law Sandy Anderson, and grandchildren Bren, Julius, Sydney, Kaycee, Dee Dee, great grandson Julius Jr. Also left to cherish his memory are sisters Bonnie Burrell, Aggie Carson, Eloise Jackson all of Canton, MS, Jerelene McChriston of Gary, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and other relatives and friends. Bobbie?s two sons Michael and Tony preceded him in death, along with sister Mary Lucille Williams, brothers Fletcher, Frazier and Angland Anderson. Funeral Services will be held Monday January 3, 2011 at 10:30am at Heritage Funeral Chapel.
