Bradley Dean Harris Obituary
Angels came down from Heaven and guided our loving husband and father home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 12, 2011 after a courageous 4-1/2 year battle with cancer. To all of his family and friends, Brad was filled with love, endless talents, understanding, compassion, and was always making jokes to see a smile. His strength for never giving up will always be remembered by his family and friends. Gone from this world he will live on in our hearts every day until we meet him again in Heaven. Brad was born February 14, 1951 to Robert and Maxine Harris in Longview, WA. The youngest of 5 children, Brad was mischievous and adventurous becoming a wonderful family man who loved each one dearly. It is so sad to lose his wit, creative nature, energy and talent at such a young age. He loved the great outdoors especially with one of his many cameras in hand always looking for the unusual elements. He spent most of his formative years along the Oregon Coast. The small town of Toledo, OR in his heart was his home and favorite place to visit with dear friends from High School. Some of his favorite memories were playing his guitar with his buddies, walking along the beach and the sound of the ocean. He served in the US Navy as Seaman the last several years of the Vietnam War. During his service he was honored with the Purple Heart and Naval Accommodations awards for bravery and valor. After returning to Oregon he attended Lane Community College in Eugene, OR and later continued his education at Spokane Falls Community College where he received a Bachelor Degree in Photography in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jann at their home in the Spokane Valley. He was a loving Father to his children: Jeremy Harris of Bellevue; Jennefer Harris-Hewitt (Jeff) of Everett; Amanda Harris-Zodrow (Gary) of Spokane. He is also survived by two brothers; Robert Harris (Norma) of Milwaukee, OR., Gregory Harris of Harrisburg, OR., two sisters; Karen Throop (Bob) of Pebble Beach, CA., Cheryl LeVesque (Pat) of Reedsport, OR., and numerous nieces and nephews. While his three children were growing up the family spent many happy camping trips, Luby Bay at Priest Lake, ID was the family favorite. There he taught them his love for nature and photography, swimming, hiking, sitting around the campfire and most important quality family time. Brad?s last employment was at Boise Cascade Lumber Division, where he worked for 8-1/2 years until his diagnosis. Dedicated and a hard worker he missed seeing his fellow co-workers, but did not miss working outside in the heat of summer or bitter cold in the winter. His family would like to thank Dr. Kirk Lund, Rockwood Cancer Center and Dr. Joe Choi, Spokane Veteran?s Memorial Hospital for their endless dedication to the many challenges Brad faced during his fight with cancer. They would also like to thank Hospice of Spokane, and the many medical staff members and nurses that assisted with his care over the years. The support, love, encouragement and prayers extended were greatly appreciated. His family will honor Brad?s last request - a Celebration of His Life will be held in the Spring of 2012 along the Oregon Coast. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA., 99210.
