Bruce J. Hunt Obituary (Age 60) Bruce passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014, at his home in Spokane, WA, after a brave battle with a rare and aggressive leukemia. Bruce was born in Spokane, March 20, 1954, to Kenneth and Virginia (Marney) Hunt. He attended North Central High School and Eastern Washington University where he obtained a degree in Planning. Prior to his time at EWU, Bruce owned his own construction business and built homes, churches, and commercial buildings. After graduation from EWU, Bruce worked as a planner for Spokane County and for the State of Washington as a Senior Planner, where he was employed at the time of his death. Bruce is survived by his wife Kate Benedict, brother David Hunt and sister in law Huihsin Chung, sister Randy Brown, and nephew Casey King. He is also survived by his beloved golden retriever Bette and kittens Mojo & Tootie. Bruce lived his life with gratitude and a special joy for living. He was an avid cyclist, runner, and vintage sports-car racer. He loved the outdoors: hiking, kayaking, sailing, golfing, and camping. Bruce left a legacy of friends from these pursuits who were inspired by his gentle strength and love for life. He is deeply missed and deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bruce's name to River's Wish Animal Sanctuary, 11511 W. Garfield Road, Spokane, Wa. 99224. A celebration of Bruce's life will be November 9, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., Spokane, at 1:30 PM.
