C. Dale Murphy Obituary (Age 82) C. Dale Murphy passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane, WA on November 7, 2013. He was born December 8, 1930 in Spokane, the son of Clarence and Mildred Murphy. He graduated high school in Portland Oregon and attended Eastern Montana College in Billings MT, where he met his wife of 56 years, Joylyn Murphy. They were married May 31, 1957. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army, he began a career with J.C. Penney which took him and his family to Anchorage, AK to open the first Penney store in 1963. He left the Penney Company in 1974 and began a new career in Real Estate which he stayed with until 1996, at which time he retired. He was known to his many good friends, customers and coworkers as "square deal Dale". He shared his love of the outdoors with his family and friends; spending almost every weekend fishing, camping, skiing, hunting, etc. C. Dale never knew a stranger. He and Joy moved back to Spokane, WA in August 2004. He is survived by his wife, Joylyn Murphy; children, Kim Loran of Anchorage, AK and Brett (Valerie) Murphy of Palmer, AK; grandchildren Paul and Emily Loran, and Steven, Zachary, Zoe and Faith Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Neil and Jim. The family requests any donations in Dale's memory go to the Parkinson's Resource Center of Spokane, 910 West 5th Ave. Spokane, WA 99204. There will be no service at this time. A memorial to his life will be held in Alaska, his final resting place, next summer.
