Cameron Phillip Varney, a loving husband, devoted father, beloved educator, and unrivaled

friend, peacefully departed this world on October 9, 2025, in Spokane, Washington, at the

age of 69. Born on August 20, 1956, in Seattle, he brought laughter and light wherever he went, leaving a trail of joyful memories in his wake.

Cameron was a devoted husband, deeply committed to his wife, Lynn, of 44 years and his

daughter Tobey. His hard work and dedication to his family showed, guiding his family with

wisdom, patience, and unwavering love. Cam’s greatest joy in life came from spending time

with his two adoring grandsons.

Cam dedicated over 42 years to teaching in the Northshore School District, where he

inspired countless students with his infectious laughter and warm heart. From his early

days teaching third grade at Woodin Elementary, moving to Woodmoor Elementary, and

then again to his final years at Kenmore Middle School, he made learning an adventure,

often sprinkling his lessons with a dash of humor that made even math feel like a party. He

was known for his welcoming smile and an uncanny ability to connect with everyone,

whether they were students or fellow teachers. Outside the classroom, Cam was a doting

father who reveled in coaching his daughter Tobey’s basketball and softball teams, proudly

cheering her on from the sidelines. His love for her was as boundless as his enthusiasm for

the game.

In addition to his teaching legacy, Cam shared a special bond with his best friend Bill, as

they spent 53 summers at Kiwanis Camp Casey; a place filled with heartwarming

experiences and cherished memories. After relocating to Spokane in 2020, he cherished

every moment with his grandsons, who will fondly remember their “Grampy” as a source of

boundless joy and wisdom.

Cameron is survived by his wife Lynn, daughter Tobey Kittredge (Andrew), grandsons

Brooks and Griffin Kittredge, father Phillip Varney, brothers Reed Varney (Cheri) and Grant

Varney (Terri), brother-in-law Mark Morgan (Cindy) and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00PM at the

Kenmore Middle School Gymnasium, 20323 66th Ave NE, Kenmore, WA 98028. Join us in

sharing our favorite stories and memories, dressed casually or in your favorite sports gear-

just as Cam would have wanted. A light lunch will be served.

In the hearts of all who knew him, Cameron’s remarkable spirit will continue to shine,

reminding us to embrace life with laughter, love, and kindness.
