Capt. Reginald A. Spindler Obituary (Age 91) Reginald passed away on May 6, 2016 in Deer Park, WA. He was born on March 18, 1925 in Berlin, Germany and became an American citizen through Ellis Island in 1930. Reginald was educated at Dresden University in Germany before he was removed by Nazis and placed in a P.O.W. camp. He escaped the camp and went by train into Paris, boarding the Red Cross Hospital ship ?Hope? to Switzerland and then met his family in Chicago, IL. Reginald served in the U.S. Army in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was recalled to the U.S. Navy by the U.S. Attorney General to serve in the U.S. Government Public Health Services Program in 1969. He earned a Master?s degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in Public Administration; he also earned a Master?s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota and a Master?s degree in Human Resources from the University of California. Reginald served as Director at Mayo Clinic Health Services in Albuquerque, NM. He also developed the Physician?s Assistant Program for the U.S. Government and received a commendation from the U.S. Attorney General and the President of the United States. Reginald retired from government service in 1986 and moved to Spokane, WA. He is survived by his spouse Eva J. Spindler; children Jane Malesic and Gary Spindler of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital.
