Carol Ann (Derleth) Hartl

November 14, 1919 - May 09, 2010

Carol Ann (Derleth) Hartl Obituary (Age 69) Passed away peacefully May 11, 2010 at her home in Spokane, WA. Carol Ann was born in Waupan, WI on December 30, 1940. She grew up in Beaver Dam, WI with her parents Henry (?Hank?) and Violet (?Vi?) Derleth and her 5 sisters and brothers. She met her future husband, Tom Hartl, when they were 16 and attended Beaver Dam High School. After his offer to help park her car, they remained together for life. They were married on April 29, 1961 at St. Peters Church in Beaver Dam. Together with their three children Colleen, Mike and Gail they created a close, loving family. Carol loved almost nothing better than to have her family together at home with her and Tom. She was not only a wonderful wife and mother, but our best friend as well. She was a talented cook who delighted in cooking and planning meals for her family. She loved to knit and shared her skill with her daughters and granddaughters. A master homemaker, she created a comfortable and welcoming home for her family and friends. We lovingly remember Carol for her strong love for Tom, her children and her extended family. She exemplified strength in adversity and a patient, good-natured attitude under all circumstances. This lesson we take to heart. Although she will be greatly missed, she leaves a legacy of love for family and courage for all who met and knew her. Her wish and our desire is that we all carry on in that spirit of peace and love. Carol is survived by her loving husband Tom; children Colleen, Mike and Gail; grandchildren Jillian, Connor, Darby and Christopher; sisters and brothers Melody, Hank, Kim, Frank and Linda Derleth. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Mass will be held at Assumption Parish in Spokane on Monday, May 17, 2010. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her name to Catholic Charities, 12 E. 5th. Ave., Spokane, WA 99202.
