Carol P. Clark

September 22, 1922 - April 07, 2015

Carol P. Clark Obituary (Age 92) Carol Pugh Clark died April 7, 2015, of heart failure at the age of 92. She was born September 22, 1922, in Kanab, Utah, to David and Amanda Pugh, joining a brother, Austin. After graduating from Kanab High School, Carol attended one year of college and one year of business school before marrying Kenneth Clark on October 17, 1942. Carol and Ken traveled western states while he visited grocery stores as a Quaker Oats route salesman. She told stories of living from town to town, often cooking meals on a hotplate in humble hotel rooms to save money. In the mid-1940s, they settled in Spokane, where their son David was born in 1945. They built a tidy brick home on the South Hill, and their second son, Douglas, was born in 1951. She continued to live in that house until poor health forced her to move a year ago to an assisted living facility. Carol was a homemaker who was active in numerous social clubs throughout the years, and she had a vast circle of friends. She dutifully ferried her boys to music lessons and served on the Franklin Elementary School PTA. She and her mother, Amanda, sold Avon for many years, and she stayed a loyal Avon customer for the rest of her life. Her husband Ken, a New York Life Insurance agent, passed away in 1981. Carol is survived by her son David Clark and his wife Janeen; granddaughter Stephanie and her husband Gary Davis; great-grandchildren Ayden, Eden, and Jasper Davis; granddaughter Paula and her husband Ed Cox; great-grandchildren Austin and Madison Cox; son Doug Clark and his wife Sherry; grandson Benjamin "Ben" Clark; granddaughter Emily and her husband Shane Berry; and great-granddaughter Ronan Berry. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 17, at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to 2nd Harvest Food Bank, c/o Spokane Street Music Week, 1234 East Front Street, Spokane, WA 99202.
