Our beloved mother and rock, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and foster parent to hundreds of children, passed away September 11, 2015. Carole was born in Spokane on March 8, 1945 to Alonzo Lonnie Newell Hatcher and Edna Pearl Foose. She was preceded by Doreen Schultz her daughter, her brother Lonnie Newell, brother Ed Hatcher and sister Norma Mace. Carole?s love for children and animals was immense. She'd just recently lost her two favorite four-legged companions (Baby & Spike). Carole is survived by her husband Ronald Schultz, her daughter Donna Olson & son-in-law Joseph Olson, son Darold W. Schultz & daughter-in-law Becky Schultz, son Christopher M. Patterson & daughter-in-law Dalene S. Kersey Patterson, son Andrew W. Patterson & wife Lynda L. Patterson, son Kerry Schultz, son Thison Schultz, grandson Mathew J. Olson & wife Lacey Olson, granddaughter Sara Roberg & husband Jarred Roberg, granddaughter Rachell Anderson & husband Phil Anderson, grandson Evan Schultz & wife Janelle Schultz, granddaughter Samantha Eckart & husband Chris Eckart, she is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Hunter, Aleah, Lily, Abby, Aubry, Kody, Colton, Bryce, Clancey, Charlotte, Eva, Allison, & Clair. Ron & Carole Schultz have had a tremendous life together in more than 56 years of marriage. They were married September 3, 1959 in Spokane. Carol began a career as a nurse at Lakeland Village and later moved to Holy Family Hospital into the Pediatric Unit. She and Ron first opened their home and hearts to foster care in 1982. The State of Washington Department of Children & Family Services in Elk, placed their first foster child with them where they operated a small farm which helped to support their family and extended family. The children all went to Riverside School District. Carole quickly became the rock of stability to many people in the Elk area. Carol and was a tremendous advocate for children; many children. Her dedication to these children was always evident. At any given time, she'd take phone calls and visits from her children to discuss the world?s problems, and she'd always have an apropos answer to remedy the situations at hand. Carole helped to shape, direct and guide so many young children and teenagers. The Schultz household has long been known for teaching ethics, integrity, honesty and morality. We will forever miss this woman and matriarch! We commit to carry forward the life lessons that infused in us for generations to come. Her legacy will live on forever. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 17th at 10:00am at Heritage Funeral Chapel.
