Carrie Haynes Madsen Obituary Carrie Haynes Madsen passed away peacefully in her home October 30, 2016 in Spokane Washington, after a long and fulfilling life. She was 95. Mrs. Madsen was born December 20, 1920 in Atlanta Georgia to her parents Green Haynes and Bessie Mae Whitehead. She graduated from Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City where she was a member of Lambda Kappa Mu Business Sorority. Carrie was a Registered Nurse in New York City where she met her first husband, James Alonso Archer. James and Carrie had one daughter, Rosalyn Carole Houser. After Jamess death, Carrie married Carl Henry Madsen, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Madsen was a longtime member of All Souls Episcopal Church of New York City. She was a very caring person and will be remembered by friends and family as an avid cook, world traveler, fashionista and the ultimate hostess. She will forever be remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as New York Nana. Mrs. Madsen is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn C. Houser of Spokane Washington; her grandson and daughter-in-law Norman Nathaniel Houser and Erica Houser of Lenexa Kansas; granddaughter and son-in-law Natalie H. Burns and Nathaniel Burns of Walnut Creek California; four grandchildren Micayla Lane Houser, Norman Michael Houser, Addison Nichole Burns and Jefferson Walker Burns. She is preceded in death by her parents, Green and Bessie; husbands, James and Carl and 8 siblings. Visitation is scheduled for November 10, 2016 from 1:00 PM 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Spokane WA. A memorial will take place at 1:00 on November 11, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Madsens life.
