After a full life of loving God, family and friends, Catherine Elaine (Zahniser) Diehl joined her heavenly Father on June 15, 2025.

Cathy was born on October 29, 1935 to Anna Kinkade and Frank Zahniser along with her baby brothers Frank and later DeMar.   As a child, she was very small and had asthma. Unable to participate in sports, she decided to focus on her intelligence! She studied and excelled at school and in life.  She was smart!  She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1953. She continued on to Washington State University to study math and became a proud member of the sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta. There she made lifelong friends, including her sister in law Lee “Dixie” Drake.

She later studied bacteriology at Gonzaga University and 20 years later graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in accounting, receiving her CPA.  Catherine  worked at Washington Water Power in her 20’s where she met and married Jack Rohrback.  Together they had 2 children.  They divorced and while working at Bell Recreation, she met and married Richard Diehl.  Together they enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, weekends at Diamond Lake and fishing. The marriage didn’t work out, but they remained friends until his passing.

Accounting was Cathy’s passion.  She started with a partnered firm, Dunn and Diehl Accounting, worked at various other businesses and ended her career working for her home church, Opportunity Christian Fellowship. She finally retired at 82 years old!  Catherine loved the arts and enjoyed theater, concerts, art exhibits and held season tickets to the  Spokane Symphony Orchestra and Coeur d’ Alene Summer Theater.  Midlife, she discovered golf and fell in love with it.   She played women’s leagues and traveled with her friends to all the different courses here and away.  She was also an amazing cook, often harvesting herbs and veggies from her bountiful gardens and preparing delicious dinners for her family and friends.

Catherine was greeted in heaven by her Dad, Mom and brothers. She leaves behind her daughter, Tracy Faulkes, son, John Rohrback, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many lifelong friends.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside Memorial on July 11th at 12:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life at Tracy Faulkes’ home.

Catherine was loving, kind, fun and faithfully served Jesus by serving others.  She will be greatly missed!
