June 04, 1939 - May 03, 2018

Cecil Wood Obituary (Age 78) He was born in Spokane, WA on June 4, 1939, and left this world on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in Portland, Oregon, to rest peacefully with the love of his life, Barbara Wood, waiting patiently for him and their child - the dachshund - Spud. He is survived by his son Rick (wife Sheryl), his daughter Christie (husband Vernon) his five granddaughters (Megan, Alex, Michelle, Chelsie and Ashley) and one great-granddaughter (Madison). After serving in the United States Army as a Private First Class, he worked long hours as a semi-truck driver at a steel company and catering company. Cecil was never the kind of guy to shy away from a challenge and his most proud accomplishment was when he met and wooed his wife. Every day Cecil would bring her a flower and tell her how special she was. After many conversations over coffee, he won her over! They fell in love, got married and moved to Oregon to spend their lives together. Cecil loved the outdoors, spending most summers at Eloika Lake fishing off the end of the dock and eating otter pops with his grandkids. He was one of the best Grandpa?s you could ask for. He never said no to playing a game or telling a campfire story - even with five little girls screaming and running around. He was a caring and loving father and grandfather, remembering every single birthday or special event in his family?s lives. His incredible sense of humor was one of the greatest things about him - he always knew how to make everyone smile. If he didn?t make you smile, he would ?bring out the twins, lefty and righty?. Cecil will always be remembered for his willingness to help others in any way he could. Whether it was a neighbor, friend, co-worker or complete stranger. We love you Cecil - no time would have been long enough, but if love could keep you here, you would be with us forever. We miss you and love you so much. Ceremony to honor and celebrate Cecil Wood?s fantastic life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. 99224, Monday, June 11th at 1:00 PM, followed by a short service with Military honors at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake, WA 99022, at 3PM.
