Charlotte Marie Petersen Obituary
Charlotte Marie Petersen passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, August 14, 2015, at Manor Care Nursing Home. Charlotte was born on March 8, 1922, to Charles and Edna Chollet, in Colville, Washington. Charlotte graduated from high school in 1940. Shortly thereafter she moved to Spokane where she was employed by Continental Bakery. She met and married Jack G. Brucick in 1946. Their union produced one son, Jack M. Brucick. Her husband, Jack, passed away in 1966, at Holy Family Hospital. On his death bed, Jack asked his best friend, Donald D. (Pete) Petersen, to "take care of Charlotte and Jack". Love blossomed and Charlotte was married to Donald Petersen in 1968. Together, they began the formative task of raising Jack, who nearly ate them out of house and home! They were married for 46 years with Donald, (Pete), passing away July 24, 2014. Charlotte was a homemaker who lived through the Great Depression and World War II. Her love of family was the center of her world. The Petersen household was the focal point of many family Christmas Eve gatherings. Charlotte took great pleasure in sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. There were few items that she could not sew or mend. Charlotte had a green thumb and her flower garden was the talk of the neighborhood. Above all, she was a loving, caring mother, wife, sister and aunt who placed family above all else.
She was a lady!
Charlotte is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Janet Brucick, numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. Although she has been called home, she will never be forgotten.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Manor Care, and in particular, Sean and Julie, for their caring and love of Charlotte these past 18 months. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015, from noon to 5:00, and Saturday, August 22, 2015, from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception, and graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
