Clair G. Reid Obituary (Age 84) Clair passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3rd. He was born on October 24, 1928 to parents Clair and Mary in a small copper mining city in Bingham, Utah. He spent his childhood through graduation from high school in Blaine, WA near the Canadian border. After high school graduation, he joined the Air Force and served as a mechanic. The Air Force brought him to Spokane and Fairchild AFB where he met his wife, Margery. They spent their courtship roller skating at Pattison?s Roller Rink and would meet fireside at the Davenport Hotel. They were married and had four children, Tom, Virginia, Pattie and Carolyn. His free time was spent camping, RVing and stream fishing with his family. He began Bestway Fuel & Spray in 1957 and ran the business for 31 years before his children Tom and Carolyn took it over in 1988. He also purchased Moore Perm-A-Mulch on the north side of Spokane and started Moran Garden Center on the south side of town with his daughter Pattie and her husband Rick. Retirement followed shortly thereafter. He spent his time golfing, working in the yard and tending a garden for many years as well as caring for numerous pets, including cows and donkeys. Clair and Margery loved to travel. They were snowbirds and went south to California or Arizona many winters after Christmas. Later in life, Clair enjoyed spending time with family, watching the Mariners and caring for their cat, Bobby. Clair was preceded in death by his wife Margery Reid and his son, Tom Reid. He is survived by his children Virginia (Jeff), Pattie (Rick) and Carolyn (Mike) and his nine grandchildren Kristi, Beth, Jeannie, Mike, Eric, Scott, Chris, Corey and Kayla and 11 great-grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice House of Spokane. A Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2013.
