Clare A. Hart, Jr. Obituary (Age 83) Passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Spokane Valley Good Samaritan Center, his residence for the past 10 years. Clare was born May 29, 1930 at Spokane, WA to Clare and Ella (Melbourne) Hart. He graduated from North Central High School in 1949. He then served with the United States Army thru the Korean Conflict. After his military service he worked for Bell Furniture Company, then attended Kinman Business University. After graduating from Kinman he began his career with the Spokane County Auditors Office. He married Eleanor Kerstein at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1955 at Spokane, WA where they made their home. Eleanor preceded Clare in death, passing away in 1981. In 1991 Clare married Ann Colbert who he shared 10 happy years with until her passing in 2001. Survivors include his son John Hart and his wife Jerree of Spokane, WA and daughter Karen and her husband Gary Stone of Savoy, TX. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Melody McKibbin and Mathew Stone; one step-grandson, Justin McDowell; and two great grandchildren, Trey and Nikko McDowell. Clare was preceded in death by his brothers; Allen, Virgil, and Gale; and one sister Clarice. Clare was a member of the Garland Alliance Church, and more recently worshiped with the chapel congregation at Spokane Valley Good Samaritan. Clare enjoyed singing and playing the piano and served as choir director at both Liberty Park Methodist Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the 1960's. He was an avid Seattle Mariners Baseball fan and rarely missed watching a game. Clare was a sweet, gentle man who loved his children and grandchildren and sincerely appreciated the wonderful caregivers and friends at Valley Good Samaritan. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10:00am at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, WA 99205. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Spokane Valley Good Samaritan nursing home, 17121 E. 8th Ave. Spokane Valley, WA 99016.
