On Tuesday morning of June 2, 2009, an honest and honorable man Clancy passed away peacefully in the presence of his immediate family at the Hospice House of Spokane. Born June 10, 1916 in Odessa, Washington, he was one of seven children of Conrad and Anna Lenhart. A life time Yankee fan and long time resident of Kellogg, Idaho, he was employed for 42 years at the Bunker Hill as an executive secretary. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Clancy loved his time spent in the Silver Valley and was active in the American Legion, Masons, and Elks Lodge of Kellogg. He was a long time member of the Kellogg United Church of Christ and upon moving to the Spokane Valley in 1968 he and his wife became active members of the Westminster Congregational Church of Christ. Clancy spent many happy, fun filled summers at Rose Lake, where he and his family enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the area. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Hedvie Lenhart, son Marc Lenhart, and is survived by his three children William (Cheryl) Papesh, Deidre (Andrew) Ashmore, and Craig(Linda) Lenhart all of Spokane. Additional survivors, two grandchildren Dana Papesh of Seattle, Eric (Melissa) Papesh and his two great grandchildren Samantha and Grant Papesh who all currently reside in London, England, sisters Lucille (Del) Turner, Portland, Oregon and Bernice (John) Davis, Seattle and numerous nieces and nephews. Clancy spent the last years of his life as a resident of the Waterford where everyone who came to know and care for him, loved him dearly. A good, caring and generous man, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the Waterford on Friday June 5th at 10:00 am. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Waterford, Sacred Heart Hospital, and Hospice of Spokane in providing Clancy with their tender heartfelt care and comfort during his last days, blessings on you all.
The family suggests any memorials in Clarence's name be made to Hospice of Spokane, Westminster Church of Christ, Spokane, or The Staff House Museum in Kellogg, Idaho.
