Clarence Wilmet "Capp" Holdridge

Clarence Wilmet "Capp" Holdridge Obituary Clarence W. Holdridge was the only child born to William Milo and Anna Albretina (Wegelaben) Holdridge December 9, 1925. As a life-long Spokanite, Clarence was known by many as 'Capp'. Clarence passed away peacefully in Christ August 13th with the knowledge of Christ's Resurrection and redeeming power. During WWII, he attended North Central High School, but dropped out as a junior during the spring of 1944 and joined the Navy. This was just months after his mother's death. As a Navy Coxswain, 3rd Class, Boatswain Mate, he was en route to Japan when Japan surrendered. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he attended Kinman Business College receiving a high school diploma and later earning the Bachelor of Commercial Science Degree. Clarence married Joyce Adele Williams, November 12, 1949, and together they had three children of which they were very proud. From an early age, Clarence established a strong work ethic. He was employed in many different occupations during his working career. He worked at Spokane Pine as a billing clerk, on-the-line at Kaiser Aluminum, as a billing clerk at Boise Cascade, in the trust department at the Old National Bank, as a grounds man with District 81, and as a billing clerk with the Spokane County Road Department. His favorite occupation was as a billing clerk in the lumber industry. He retired in 1987 to care for his terminally ill wife. During his life's journey, Clarence became centered on the Lord. He was actively involved with the Northwood and Whitworth Presbyterian Church choirs. Systematic in-depth Bible study was important to him during the years following Joyce's death. Clarence's other interests included woodworking, gardening, reading, traveling, photography, drawing, sharpening knives, collecting music, WWII history, trains, lighthouses, boating and meeting the needs of the less fortunate. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Anna, his wife Joyce, and an infant granddaughter Jennifer Holdridge. He is survived by his children Megan Willson, Todd (Sheryl) Holdridge, and Peggy (Steve) Hurd, and was blessed with seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family greatly appreciates the loving and tender care provided by Mary Roethle and Yashoda Giri in Clarence's last home - Aunt Mary's Place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with a reception immediately following.
