February 08, 1951 - July 26, 2013

Connie Lee (Deckman) Peterson Obituary Connie was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Deckman in Harrisburg PA. While in Mesa, AZ she married Stephen Alfred Peterson in 1974. They raised their family in Spokane, WA and were married 38 years when Stephen passed away suddenly of heart failure. Connie was a remarkable artist and poet, of which she had many publication offers. She was a wonderful teacher, loved and respected by many children and their families for years. Connie worked in district 81 as a teacher, Learning Assistant Professional and substitute. Later she moved on to retail, working for Fred Meyer for over 10 years. She became friends with co-workers and often patrons as well. Connie truly loved her work and those she was close to, and missed them all dearly when she was unable to work due to injury in 2011. As incredible as she was as a professional, she was just as incredible as a mother. Always the teacher, she passed along many lessons to her own children (often learning lessons together for the first time)! Caring and loving, and ever patient she raised her son and daughter, instilling them with her strength, courage, values and endurance. Her laughter will never be forgotten. Connie is survived by her son, John Joseph; daughter, Julianne Smith-Peterson; sister, Cathy Fountain; brother, Robert Deckman; grandchildren: Breanna, James, Bethany, Andrew, Logan and Nathan. There will be a rememberance service held Sat. August 31st at Plese Flats, just past the Bowl and Pitcher, at 2pm. This is a State Park, therefore a Discovery pass is required for each vehicle without a handicap parking permit. It is recommended to carpool. All are welcome to attend. Riverside State Park - Bowl and Pitcher Area, 4427 N Aubrey L White Pkwy, Spokane, WA 99205. Continue South past Bowl and Pitcher. Follow signs.
