Constance Mae "Connie" Pyle Obituary
Constance Connie Mae Pyle, age 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:42 a.m. at Hospice House of Spokane after complications of a severe stroke suffered in May of 2016. Connie was born on March 3, 1938 in Spokane to Ruth and Thurston Hand. Connie grew up in the Spokane Valley, graduating from West Valley High School in 1956. She married James D. Taylor on October 13,1957 in Spokane. James and Connie had two sons: Jay Allen Taylor and James Lee Taylor. Over the course of James service in the United States Air Force they lived in Indiana, California, Okinawa, and North Dakota. Connie returned to Tacoma, WA in 1965 with her two sons when James was deployed to Vietnam. Connie moved back to Spokane for good in 1966. She and James divorced in 1974.
Connie married Richard Lee Pyle on April 2,1978 in Spokane. They would have celebrated their 40th anniversary this spring. Connie and Dick were longtime members of the Nazarene Church. She was actively involved in senior ministry and loved and served her Lord and Savior. She and Dick loved to travel; visiting Mexico, Hawaii, Europe, Puerto Rico and her sons in Seattle and Annapolis, MD. Each winter they would travel to Florida to be with her brothers.
Connie is survived by her husband, Richard Lee Pyle; her sons, Jay (Dena) and James (Kelly); grandchildren, Jordan, Matthew, Ashley and Joshua; siblings, Dolores Hansen and Jacque Lee of Spokane Valley, Robert Hand of West Palm Beach, FL and twin brother Donald Hand of Harrison, ID; as well as six great grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her father, Thurston R. Hand and her mother, Ruth Ellis.
Viewing will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 31st from 10am to 5pm and Thursday, February 1st from 8am to 5pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 2nd at 1pm at First Church of the Nazarene at 9004 N. Country Homes Boulevard, Spokane, WA.

The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Royal Park Nursing Home for their care of Connie for the past year and a half and the Hospice House North for their support and compassion for Connie and family in her final days.
