Coral Mae (Russell) Hanna Obituary
(Age 89) Surrounded by family, Coral's long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease ended June 19, 2014, when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During the last few weeks of her life, many of her grandchildren brought her joy as they came to spend time with her. Coral was born in Harrison, Idaho, on April 13, 1925, the third child of Chester and Grace Russell. Her family enjoyed hearing many stories of her growing up on the shores of beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene. In 1943 Coral met a handsome young G.I., Howard "Bud" Hanna from Ohio, and they married a few months later. When Bud returned from his World War II service, the young couple made their home in Spokane. Coral's greatest life-long passion was her children and grandchildren. She was a piano teacher for a number of years, led a 4-H sewing club, enjoyed singing in the church choir and playing piano for congregational singing, and loved to cook and crochet. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church which she joined in 1968. At the time of her husband's death in 2010, Coral and Bud had been married for 67 years. Coral is survived by her four children and their spouses, Linda Waud (Dan), Alan Hanna (Diana), Russell Hanna (Chris), and Dean Hanna (Carol), 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Jim Stillwell, Vesta Adult Family Homes, for his superb and loving care of Coral during her final days. Horizon Hospice staff Maureen and Suzanne provided invaluable support as well. Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 26, 10am-5pm and Friday, June 27, 8am-3:30pm, at Heritage Funeral Home. Entombment will be on Friday, June 27, 4:00pm, at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, June 28, 10:30am, at Trinity Baptist Church, 6528 N. Monroe.
