Born February 8, 1919 in Parkers Prairie, MN to Fred and Ida Proehl. Died July 13, 2018 at Riverview Terrace Retirement Community. Attended schools in Parkers Prairie and Minneapolis, MN. In 9th grade Corine was awarded the American Legion Medal for scholarship and activities. She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class.
Corine received her BS in Dietetics from the University of Minnesota in 1943. After graduation, she interned at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI then got a job at Doctor?s Hospital (currently the Swedish Complex) in Seattle, WA. She married Robert M. Brown on December 16, 1945 and moved to Spokane, WA. Together they had four children, Robert, Pamela, John and Judith Ann.
In addition to being a homemaker and raising four children, Corine was active in her community with Visiting Nurses, Hutton Settlement Board (39 yrs.), Spokane County Bar Association Auxiliary, Riverview Board of Trustees, a member of PEO Chapter DD and a life-long active member of Central Lutheran Church. She was a food judge for numerous Dorothy Dean recipe contests and often judged food entries at Fairs in Spokane County.
Predeceased by her husband and son John, Corine is survived by son, Robert Brown (Mary Anne) of Spokane, WA; daughters, Pamela Bredberg of Bozeman, MT and Judith Ann Meagher (Chris) of Olympia, WA and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Corine?s life will be held at Central Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 24th at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Central Lutheran Church or Hutton Settlement.
