Dale Pinyon Westlake Obituary
(Age 76) Dale was born September 29, 1933 in Bisbee, AZ and entered into rest at the VA Hospice Unit in Spokane, WA on October 21, 2009. He lived his younger years in the Blue River Valley, CO and attended grade school in Heaney, CO. Dale moved to Yakima, WA in 1946 and graduated from Yakima High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Army later that year and was medically retired in 1954 due to tuberculosis. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1959 and retired in January, 1989. Dale was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and served as Commander of the Department of Washington, DAV from 1993 to 1994. Dale is survived by his spouse and best friend, Esther, at the home and his children: Debbie Robinson of San Diego, CA, Jim and Coe Westlake of Hauser Lake, ID, Christie and David Wood of Coeur d?Alene, ID, Robin and Leonard Woodard of Spokane, WA, Shanna and Marcus Romes of Spokane, WA, Lucile and Jim Jeffrey of Reynoldsburg, OH, Erin Pressley of Spokane, WA and Michael Westlake of Spokane, WA, and his grandchildren: Eric, Dana, Martin, Nicole, Bryan, Shay, Ashley, Jaden, DeOndre, Aliya, Christopher and Ruby, Robert, Clayton, Faith and great grandchildren, Charmony and DeMond. A celebration of life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on October 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Percy ?Happy? Watkins will officiate. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Spokane VA Medical Center for the caring and compassion extended to them during Dale?s last days. They ask that memorial contributions be made to the Spokane VA Medical Center and designate the funds for Employee Recognition programs.
