Dan Harry Feldkamp Obituary
(Age 88) Dan passed away on June 17, 2016 in Spokane, WA. He was born on April 17, 1928 in Dent, OH to Edward and Loretta Feldkamp. He grew up on the largest tomato farm in Cincinnati, OH where he developed a love of gardening. With his brother, they had a large vegetable stand which led to a family business. Dan graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH. When the Korean Conflict began, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his twenty-two years of service, he served in the Strategic Air Command; mission duty in Havana, Cuba; and Security Service. When selected for mission duty to Cuba, he was sent to the State Department to learn Spanish. There he met his wife, Marilyn, who was his teacher. After three years in Cuba, Dan was selected to study German at Georgetown University. Their next assignment was Germany for five years. Returning to the United States, Dan was selected for advance Spanish studies then followed a three year assignment to Key West, FL. They returned to Germany for two years and then to NSA, Ft Meade, MD. Dan retired in 1972 and continued his stamp business, The Danfel Company, specializing in fancy cancels and postal history.
Dan leaves his wife, Marilyn of 62 years; five children: Mary Fields (Florida), Tierney Smith (Maryland), Carole Anne (deceased), Diane (Spokane, WA) and Eddie (Maryland); five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother Howard and sister Carol, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews of Cincinnati, OH.
A Rosary will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 7:30 pm at Mount St. Michael?s Church, 8500 N St. Michael?s Rd, Spokane, WA 99217. A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at Mount St. Michael?s Church followed by a Graveside Service.
