(Age 85) Daniel, ?Dan the man?, was born in White Butte, South Dakota August 27, 1930, and went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2015. Dan?s Family moved to Spokane in 1937. He met the love of his life, his sweet heart Dorothy (Sunden), at Bethel Nazarene Church, marrying on June 30, 1950.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, serving as a board member, Sunday school teacher, bus driver, choir director, and song leader. He loved music, played the accordion and violin, harmonica and piano. He was a skilled carpenter, building their family home of 48 years, and a skilled mechanic, repairing and painting cars. He had many sales jobs over the years, but best known as ?The Watkins Man?.
He loved God, loved his family, and working hard. Gathering with friends and family were always the highlights in his life.
He lost the love of his life Dorothy on June 16. Now they are celebrating together in the presence of their Lord free from sickness and pain. He has left a godly heritage for his six children Ruben (Jean), Annette (Steve), John (Christine), Donna (Eric), David (Rhonda), William (Sharon), 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Christine Zimmerman, Ernestine Stemple, brother Wesley (Peggy) and numerous nieces and nephews. He has joined his wife Dorothy, parents Adam and Emelia, daughter Beverly, sisters Ida and Ann. A private graveside service will be Monday and a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Holmes Blvd.
