Daniel J. Crockett


Daniel J. Crockett, 84 of Spokane, WA was taken to heaven on February 28th, 2025. He was the son of the late Henry Paul Crockett and Frances Bane Crockett.

 

Daniel wrestled in Varsity High School and College and graduated from Britt High School in Britt, Iowa. He belonged to the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and graduated with his bachelor's from Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. Daniel worked several years at a Boy Scout Camp in Iowa and obtained the ranking of an Eagle Scout. Daniel was a camp director at the Elks Camp Grassick for Children and Adults with disabilities in North Dakota. He taught and coached wrestling at the College of Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind. He worked at the Colorado Springs YMCA, Sheridan, Wyoming YMCA and was the Director at the Astoria, Oregon YMCA. After moving to Spokane, WA in his retirement he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, St Luke’s Rehabilitation, SCOPES and worked and volunteered at the Spokane Valley, YMCA. Daniel was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Some things Daniel enjoyed most was playing Santa Claus for several years and he donated his pacemaker for dogs. Most importantly, family was a source of pride for him. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and learn and in his down time, his hobbies were working in the yard and collecting his postage stamps.


Daniel is survived by his spouse Carol Crockett of 56 years, Son, Paul (Diana) Crockett, Daughter; Lesley (Craig) Warren, 3 grandchildren, Kailey Crockett, Reece Warren and Taya (Weston) Hoerdeman, Twin Brother; David (Claudia) Crockett, Sister; Nancy (Harold) Wallen; Sister-in-Law, Georgia Crockett and several nieces and nephews.


Daniel is proceeded in Death by his parents Henry Paul Crockett and Frances Bane Crockett, Brother Paul Crockett and his Mother in Law, Ethel Csech.


In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be donated to Spokane Valley, YMCA Youth Scholarship Fund. Services will be held privately at a later date.
