June 25, 1942 to August 2, 2024

For the World to know, Darlene Leona Fitzgerald was a woman of adventure, independent, and a caregiver of many.

She was born in Bremerton, Washington, a daughter of a welder for Bremerton shipyard during end of World War II. Her family moved early in life to Spokane, Washington. She was in the 1st class to graduate from Shadle Park High School. Being adventurous and independent, she drove her 55 Chevy from Spokane to California soon after graduation where she met the father to be of her four children. They later married at St. Charles Catholic Church in Spokane.

The Navy called family to serve, and she and her family lived in many states before settling in the Pacific Northwest.

As her children left the nest, she pursued a career as a caregiver for those with disabilities mentally and physically, licensed as Psychiatric Technician working in California State Hospitals. A career that not everyone knows exists...

She balanced life with living on a sailboat in Ventura California for 10 years surrounded by the ocean. She kayaked, scuba dived, sailed, and hiked with her children and friends, living a good life. She found peace and solace from the ocean to the mountains and all the critters within.

Darlene cared most about her family. If there was a spirit animal to choose for her it would be a "Mamma Bear". Always caring for all of us through unconditional love and she was a great listener. Wisdom learned...Listen to your yourself and you will find the answer.

Darlene was preceded in death by her daughter Janette Fitzgerald and her son Dan Fitzgerald, survived by daughter Shantiana Bartlett, son Joe Fitzgerald, and brother Ralph Webber, and family.
