Darlene Swenson Obituary
(Age 80) Passed away March 30, 2014 in Spokane Valley, WA. She was born on August 22, 1933 in Amidon, ND and was raised in Tekoa, WA. She graduated from Tekoa High School in 1951. She met Clarence Art at the Sweet Shoppe in Tekoa, and they were married on September 1, 1951. Their newlywed years were spent in Moscow, ID and San Diego, CA. They settled in Spokane in 1955 to raise their family. Darlene was a very dedicated wife and mother of three children. She volunteered in many school activities and Boy & Girl Scouts. She also volunteered with Arts EAA organization and supported him with his aircraft building hobbies. She enjoyed family camping, snowbird traveling, sewing, crafting and spending much time with grandchildren. Darlene & Art spent their last years at Broadway Court Estates in the Spokane Valley, enjoying numerous new friends and activities. Most recently she has been involved in crocheting prayer shawls that are given to a local charity. Darlene is survived by a son, Mark (Marsha), daughter Marie (Doug) Walker, and son Kevin (Kelly); sister Dorothy Lindgren, Tekoa, WA, brother Clancy Gronning, Desert Center, CA; seven grandchildren: Paul Swenson, Andrea Swenson, Kristen Griffin, Kayla Manning, Markeven Swenson, Kalynda Boatman, Jon Walker; and three great-grandchildren: Krya Griffin, Brayden & Brianna Swenson. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Art of 60 years and her parents, Bud & Lois Gronning. Memorial Services will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
