David Edward Hilpert

Age 62
Born in Spokane, Washington to John and Jacqueline Hilpert, the third of four children, Dave grew up in Loon Lake and Deer Park and enjoyed snowmobiling, waterskiing and motor-cross. Dave was a natural athlete and fierce competitor. In High School, he excelled in wrestling and as one of the leading grapplers on the Deer Park Stags, competed at the Mat Classic. Dave worked summers for the family business doing hard labor while learning the athletic flooring business. After high school, he honed his sales skills, selling vacuums door to door while studying business at Spokane Falls Community College. He succeeded his father as President of Northern Hardwood, and grew the company’s revenue, services and team while continuing their tradition of high quality and excellence. He invested in commercial and residential real estate.
An avid outdoorsman, Dave worked hard and played hard all his life. By day he lived for dirt biking, adventure riding, ice-biking, snow hawking and go-kart racing with his band of buddies. Come sundown he made music and entertained friends and family with his guitar and vocals. He spent his final years with his beloved Holly at his man-ranch near Valley, WA where they enjoyed kayaking, boating and cruising the forest in his side-by-side. He was a builder and a fixer and a skilled craftsman, rebuilding homes and helping his family with repairs and remodeling projects. He rescued homeless cats and kittens, caring for and finding loving homes for dozens of stray and abandoned animals as well as keeping a tribe of his own.
He is survived by his loving partner Holly Towne; his mother, Jacqueline (Thomas) Libby; his siblings, Elizabeth (David) Torkelson, Scott (Tracey) Hilpert, and Nancy Hilpert (Terry Feller); and nieces and nephews, Joseph (Baylee) Hilpert, Jacob (Courtney) Torkelson, Christina (Brandon) Toole, Jonathan Torkelson, Rebekah Torkelson, Sarah (Cody) Blinkly, and Tim Torkelson. He was previously married to Louise Hilpert who remains a friend of the family. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hilpert and his niece Jessica Hilpert.
Dave was a devoted son, loving brother and doting uncle, always ready to help and support his family. He was a generous leader and boss. He was a badass at whatever he put his mind to and walked to the beat of his own drum. He left us far too young. He was a person of faith and is beloved and grieved by many.
