Delbert R. Mattix

March 19, 1929 - January 11, 2018

Delbert R. Mattix Obituary (Age 88) Passed away January 11, 2018 in Spokane Valley after a brief illness. He was born in Ritzville, WA March 19, 1929 to Bob and Evelyn Baker. Later when Evelyn married Bud Mattix, he adopted Del and his siblings. Del grew up in Plains and Hot Springs MT, where he graduated high school in 1947. On October 25, 1947 Del married Ruth Dahlstrom in Spokane WA, where they raised their four children. Del worked for Acme Concrete Company for 30+ years, starting in the shop and retiring as Vice President of Operations. Del, his family and friends, enjoyed many summers at the lake place on Sun-Up Bay on Lake Coeur dAlene. Each fall he would venture to the Bitterroot Range in north Idaho to go elk hunting. Del and Ruth also enjoyed traveling, near and far, with their many friends. The past few years Del has been caring for Ruth at their home in Veradale. He had an amazing life ranging from the mountains of MT to being an executive at Acme Concrete, of which he was very proud. He was loved greatly by his many family and friends. Del is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth; children George (Patricia), Terry (Diana), Tom and Delaine (Terry); 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews that called him uncle. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings Edward, Chuck, Roberta and Sandy. Funeral Service 1pm Friday, January 19, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Chapel.
