Demaris Lola Snell

Demaris Lola Snell Obituary (Age 86) Demaris was born March 4, 1926 in Arlington, WA. She passed away July 6, 2012 in Spokane following an extended illness. Demaris graduated from North Central High School, worked in Food Services at Deaconess Hospital and was a long distance telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell before meeting and marrying Robert Snell. Later she became head cook at Maplewood Gardens Retirement Facility. She attended and later joined Chattaroy Community Church and was a long-standing member in TOPS WA765/KOPS. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, traveling, games and watching her grandchildren in various sporting events. She received a certificate of recognition for sewing preemie garments donated to local hospitals for families of stillborn children. She also was recognized by the Inland Northwest Blood Center for 120 donations of blood spanning over 20 years, totaling 15 gallons helping 360 patients. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. Brooks Sr. and Amy Demaris Brooks, her two brothers, Robert and Walter Brooks and her son, Stephen Michael Snell. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Robert E. Snell, brother Marcus (Rosario) Brooks, sister-in-law Charlotte Snell, daughter-in-law Edna Snell, daughters Cheri (Dick) Young, Nancy (Mike) Selle, Becky (Jerry) Day, ten grandchildren, Rich Young, Jeff Snell, Chris Young, Mike Selle, Jodi Ailor, Amy Barnett, Ben Selle, Windi Selle, Stephanie Day, and Zach Day, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses heartfelt thanks for all of the loving professionals at Gentiva Home Healthcare and the caregivers from Home Instead. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: ALS Association Evergreen, PO Box 1023, Davenport, WA 99132. A Memorial Service officiated by Pastor Jim Couey and Pastor Jeremy Barnett, will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 13 at Chattaroy Community Church, 3711 E. Chattaroy Road.
