Denise M. Smith Obituary (Age 66) Denise was born in Spokane on March 28, 1944 to Dwight D. and Lorraine H. Hume. She passed away on October 30, 2010 after a year and a half with breast cancer. She graduated with honors from Rogers High School in 1962. That summer she met her future husband, Ed Smith. They were married in 1964. Their first child Yvonne was born in 1967 followed by Chad in 1968 and Craig in 1970. She became an excellent cook, but above all she was a loving mother and grandmother. Following in the footsteps of her mother, Denise was a passionate artist. Her intricate creations of beading, paper art, stained glass, painting and drawing were shared and cherished by many friends and family. Denise spent ten years as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. She worked in the insurance industry for most of her life, many of these years working with and supporting her husband in their family insurance agency, Anthony Baker & Burns Insurance. Denise is survived by her husband of 46 years, her daughter Yvonne (Jim) Baker, granddaughter Amber Baker, sons Chad (Terri Jayne) and Craig (Patricia), sisters Janel Dudley and Kathy Fairbanks, and brother Dwight Hume. The family thanks the wonderful people from Horizon Hospice, Briarcliff Adult Family Home and Avalon Care Center for their loving care. Funeral service 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Heritage Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Ronald McDonald House.
