Dennis Dean Roffler

September 14, 1931 - February 26, 2013

Dennis Dean Roffler Obituary (81 yrs) Born on September 14, 1931 to Richard & Elma Roffler in Pine City, WA, Dean passed peacefully on February 26, 2013 in his home at Fairwood Retirement Village. Dean ?Bunny? Roffler attended Eastern Washington State College (EWU) where he excelled at basketball & baseball and was a member of the 1949 Hall-of-Fame basketball team. This is also where he met the love of his life, Claudia, and they were married in 1958. He earned his education degree and taught Physical Education in Spokane at Sacajawea & Glover Junior High for 30 years. Dean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many in the Spokane area. His loves were his family, friends, sports and fishing at his cabin on Loon Lake. He also liked to brag about being 2nd in his graduating class at Pine City HS, although he rarely revealed there were only 2 graduates that year! He was preceded in death by his grandson Joshua Dean Hillis and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claudia, brother Jack ?Rabbit?, son Steve and wife Laurie, children Tyler, Tim and Allison Cole (husband Britton), daughter Cheryl Hillis and husband Mark, children Cory, Chase and Matt. He also, to his frustration, left behind many kokanee in Loon Lake for others to enjoy. We will all miss Dad?s loving devotion to his family and friends, great sense of humor, warm smile and compassion for others. He truly never met a stranger. The family would like to thank everyone that touched Dean?s life, especially Horizon Hospice and Fairwood Retirement Village who made his final years and days comfortable and productive. Also Darcy for your compassion and weight room trips. Dean?s life will be remembered and celebrated at Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church on April 20, 2013 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Horizon Hospice or Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church Deacon Fund.
