DeWayne Arnold Thompson Obituary
(Age 54)
DeWayne Arnold Thompson, was born to James L Thompson, Jr (deceased) and Pearleen Thompson at Mount Sinai Hospital of Chicago, Illinois on July 8, 1963. DeWayne has always been a little fighter weighing in at a whopping two pounds and three and a quarter ounces and born 2 months early. He had to camp out at the Nic-Unit at the hospital until his fragile body was strong enough to go home and begin to contend with what we call Life.
DeWayne moved with his parents in 1964 and in June of 65 our younger brother Michael was born; now our dad was so excited he now had two boys to carry on the Thompson name. Now don't get too comfortable because you already know a major disruption was growing in the near future with little sister, Meschayle in May of 1967.
As a young child DeWayne and siblings went to All Saints Catholic School, Grant Elementary and Adams Elementary, Sacajawea Junior High and graduated in June of 1983 from Joel E. Ferris High School. After high school, Arnold followed his father's footsteps and joined the Army for 4 years. After serving his country he moved to Olympia, WA for several years then on to Portland, OR.
DeWayne gained employment with the United States Post Office where he worked for several years. He had always wanted to return to Chicago, Illinois so he was able to transfer with the United States Post Service. Arnold, also worked a lot of odd jobs, one being a caregiver.
DeWayne married Billie Jean but only for a short time with no children from this union. Dewayne's health declined and he moved back to Spokane with his parents in 2013. Ultimately DeWayne and Pearl took care of each other until the end. DeWayne decided he was tired and refused certain medications to help him feel better and said "I'm ready to see what God has for me."
DeWayne was preceded in death by his father James L Thompson Jr, brother Michael R Thompson both of Spokane WA, uncle Cedric Thompson of Epps LA, great-grandmother Viola Tannehill of Spokane WA, both sets of grandparents Virginia and Nathaniel Smith of Portland OR, AD and Thelma Hutton of Chicago IL, Elaine Dickerson of Columbia, SC and Aunt Sandra.
