Dinnie A. O'Shaughnessy Obituary Dinnie, age 93, passed away on July 24, 2011 at his home with Camilla, his beloved wife of 58 years by his side. Dinnie was born March 2, 1918 on the family farm in Hunters, WA. He was one of nine children, all who have preceded him in death as well as his parents. Survivors include his wife, Camilla, daughter, Karie (Don) Wood, grandchildren Thomas and Sarah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dinnie was a decorated WWII Veteran. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a T/Sgt. Inf. COD in the 184th Infantry, Asiatic ? Pacific Theater (Leyte Island). He was the recipient of the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and 2 Purple Hearts. Dinnie retired in 1981 from the Postal Service after 38 years as a letter carrier. He was a member of VFW Post 51 and the NALC. Dinnie was a wonderful husband and a loving father and grandfather. He was passionate about the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved a good camping trip where he would embrace his grandchildren in his ?magic coat.? He also was an avid gardener. Having grown up during the Great Depression, Dinnie worked hard to make sure his family was well provided for. Dinnie will be sorely missed and will always be remembered as a kind, generous and peaceful man. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10 am at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. In lieu of flowers, any memorials in Dinnie?s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
