Dixie Carol Denny Kukuk Obituary
Dixie Carol Denny Kukuk passed away on June 3, 2023, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Dixie was born on Sunday, June 21, 1931, to Herbert and Clara Denny in Farmington, Washington. With grit and determination, the family developed a robust dairy and grain farm bordering Silver Lake, two miles east of Medical Lake, Washington. Dixie attended school in Medical Lake for twelve years, graduating in 1949 and continuing her studies at Eastern Washington College of Education.
In 1951, after a four year courtship, Dixie married the love of her life, Milton Wilbert Kukuk. Dixie and Milt were true partners in life. After marriage, they embarked on their dream, creating a farm of their own in Deep Creek, Washington. In September, 1952, Milton was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, which Dixie referred to as an abrupt time-out to our many plans. After having served his country, Milt and Dixie built a home on Silver Lake where they raised their family.
During the ensuing years, Dixie was employed as an accounts manager and a stenographer at Eastern State Hospital, and for over twenty years as the secretary at Medical Lake High School. She retired in 1993.
Shortly following the untimely death of her beloved Milton in 1990, Dixie moved to North Bend, Washington, where she enjoyed helping to raise her two youngest grandchildren, Alec and Marcus Deichman. In 2018, Dixie moved to Riverview Retirement Community in Spokane, Washington, where she lived until her death.
Dixie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milt, and her three older brothers, Wayne, Dean, and Melvin Denny. Her younger sister, Donna Denny Broadsword, passed away just twelve days following Dixies death. Dixie is survived by her younger brother, Jack (Vivian) Denny, and her three children, Dennis (Ann) Kukuk; Susan (Mel) Beam; and Karen (Matt) Deichman. Dixie is also survived by her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren: Lindsey (Ben) Cockburn and children Grant and Claire Beam and Camdyn Cockburn; Erik (Chelsey) Kukuk and children Savannah and Bridger; Anders (Jenna) Kukuk and children Scarlett, Rose, and Olivia; Kellen (Kelly) Beam and children Easton and Madison; Alec (Lauren) Deichman and daughter Kendall; and Marcus Deichman.
