Born the youngest of six children on October 23, 1933 in Tipton, OK, Don accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of nine. In 1942 Don moved to Hobbs, NM with his mother and aunt, leaving the family farm behind. He met the love of his life attending Sunday School and subsequently married Barbara Ruth Clark in 1952. For 81 years, Don lived a life of service, first pastoring churches in Texas and New Mexico, and then he and Barbara went to Brazil in 1968 where they served as missionaries for ten years. Upon their return to the United States, Don served as Director of Missions for the Inland Empire Baptist Association, working with Southern Baptist Churches throughout eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana for ten years. Don and Barbara then moved to the greater Los Angeles area where he again served as the Director of Missions, working with more than 85 churches in the metropolitan area. Shortly after retirement, Don and Barbara relocated back to the Spokane area where they have resided since 2006. Renowned for his sense of humor, Don also loved to create things of beauty, painting numerous oil paintings and spending many happy hours in his woodworking shop. He loved people, sharing a cup of coffee, a good story, a joke or just being there in a time of need.
