Donald Ray Bell Obituary (Age 88) Dr. Donald Ray Bell, of Cheney, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the age of 88 in Spokane, Washington after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Don was born in Foreman, Arkansas in 1930 to Thomas Andrew and Lena Pearl Bell. His family moved from Arkansas to Oregon in 1940. Don met the love of his life, Betty Lou, at a dance while they were attending Bend Community College. They married in 1958. Don and Betty moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he completed his Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Oregon. They moved to Cheney in 1964 where he was a professor of psychology at Eastern Washington University for 37 years. He enjoyed working on his cattle ranch in Cheney and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don�s wife, Betty Lou, predeceased him by exactly twenty-one years, passing away on February 10, 1998. He is survived by his children, Peyton (Keith Hylton) Bell and Marc (Jill) Bell; his grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Patten, Scott (Natalie) Patten, Michael Bell, and Courtney (Arthur) Whitten; great-grandchildren, Ella, Avery, Mila, and Finley; sisters, Peggy Henson and JoAnn Leach; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His family will be holding a funeral service on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 10 AM at Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane followed by a reception.
